Philadelphia Flyers Send Chris VandeVelde to Adirondack Phantoms

The Philadelphia Flyers released Center/Wing Chris VandeVelde from professional tryout contract so he is now on his Adirondack Phantoms AHL contract. VandeVelde is on the Flyers AHL affiliate team however he is under contract with Adirondack and not on NHL contract with Flyers so another NHL team could sign him to a two way contract. The Flyers now have 24 players on roster although defenseman Hal Gill is on a tryout contract and he is the 24th player. The Flyers could sign him to a minor league contract. They may also be exploring trading one of their other defensemen. The Flyers are at the roster limit of 23 players under contract. It appears rookie center Scott Laughton has made the opening night roster although the 2012 1st round draft pick could play for the Flyers up to 9 games without his entry level contract starting. The Flyers could still potentially choose to send him back to his junior team Oshawa (OHL) prior to the 10th game of the season.
